Over the last three years, the Kingsgrove Café on the public square has been a true part of the community. St. Modwen set up the temporary building to allow first Marcopolo and then The Heritage Bakery to provide residents with delicious snacks and coffee; making sure the neighbourhood had a community space long before the local centre and The Hub open.
Ahead of the new café opening at the local centre in spring 2025, Stephen and the team at the Kingsgrove Café have been making plans for their own future and are looking to move ahead with a new opportunity with The Heritage Bakery. Their last day at Kingsgrove will be 28th February.
“We have enjoyed our time working in Kingsgrove and getting to know so many lovely people in the community. We’d like to thank all our loyal customers and St Modwen’s for their support over the last few years. Stephen and the team will continue to work in partnership with The Heritage Bakery, managing the bakery shop and café in Wallingford Street, Wantage, from the beginning of March. We hope you will pop in to say hello and enjoy the same coffee, breakfasts and bakery goods as you’ve grown to love at Kingsgrove”.
The café has been a fantastic hub at the heart of the Kingsgrove as it has changed and developed, supporting many community events along the way, and becoming a key part of the history of this neighbourhood.St. Modwen would like to thank all the team at the Kingsgrove Café for their incredible work and support in keeping the community at Kingsgrove fed and refreshed over the past few years and wish them every success in their next chapter.
Details of the new café’s operator and opening date will be announced in due course.
