The first of many new sporting facilities opens

A brand new, floodlit, Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) is now open at Kingsgrove, operated by Wantage Town FC. The MUGA is suitable for a wide variety of uses, including football, hockey and group fitness sessions.

This allows for a wide variety of sporting groups to emerge, improving access to sport for people of all ages in our community.

Three new football pitches are set to open in the summer, ready for the start of the new football season. The new pitches will also be run by Wantage Town FC, allowing them to expand, with at least 10 new youth teams created, welcoming over 100 more junior players into the sporting family.

The new sports pavilion next to the pitches and MUGA is also now open. The pavilion adds a welcoming and hospitable environment for players, equipped with changing facilities and a small breakout room where snacks, tea and coffee can be served at sporting events.

Looking to the future, the MUGA and sporting pavilion represent the first stage of delivery of a wide array of outdoor facilities in the Kingsgrove Central Park. There will also be open spaces, play parks, a skatepark, and a teen shelter designed by local young people on the Central Park site.
