Keeping Kingsgrove’s roads safe: An update

Keeping Kingsgrove’s roads safe: An update

Over the last few months, we’ve been made aware of vehicles parking on the pavements, cycle lanes, and roads around Kingsgrove. We’d like to thank those of you who have emailed us to let us know of the issues primarily affecting Elder Way, Rutherford Road and Primrose Avenue.

While we understand most residents park properly, we have made the decision to bring in a parking control management company to enforce the ‘no parking zones’ along these routes for residents’ safety. This will also apply to any workers and contractors across the site, who have their own designated parking.

Following a review and further comments from residents, it has been decided to put in place restrictions along Elder Way and Rutherford Road. Residents will start to see signs going up along these roads alerting them to these restrictions, which will begin on 13th March 2023.

As the bus route runs along these roads, it is challenging for buses and other large vehicles to drive safely when cars are parked on both sides. These restrictions will ensure the safe travel and passage for cyclists as both roads have a designated cycle lane. Blocking roads and pavements may also cause accessibility issues for wheelchair users, cyclists, and to residents parked within their own bays.

PCM Ltd has been appointed to implement the restrictions, and they will be writing to homes shortly to explain what will happen next.

The service charge for residents will not be affected with the introduction of the parking control management company. At the moment these roads are privately owned by St. Modwen. They will be offered for adoption by Oxfordshire County Council in the future who may bring in their own parking control measures.
